What is a “Spacer”, and what is it for?
First, let’s see what a spacer is, and what it is necessary for.
A spacer – is an integral part of all modern insulated glass units, and performs the important function of a frame by forming equal distances between glasses within the entire unit’s perimeter.
The spacer is filled with a special drying agent, which absorbs the residual moisture inside an insulated glass unit.
Why Warmex – is a "warm edge spacer"?
The spacer significantly affects thermotechnical behavior of the window.
Traditionally, insulating glass units production used aluminum spacers, which principle shortage is high heat conduction. So, during a cold season such aluminum spacer quickly gets frozen, and condensate or ice layers can appear on the glass.
The Warmex spacer was designed to eliminate this problem, and now there are no any similar products in Russia. Warmex is the “warm” spacer as it is manufactured from polymer materials, which heat conduction is about 1,200 times less than that of the products from aluminum. So, the Warmex “warm-edge” spacer solves one of the key problems typical for insulating glass units made using aluminum spacers – the sharp temperature drop of the inner glazing surface within the binders transition zones (the “edge-of-glass problem”).
